Ok, I'm too lazy to look this up, so can you tell me how many species of wolves there are in the world, and their names? At least some of them please.

Re: Lets Talk About Wolves!

Alright, only 3 species of wolves:
Canis Rufus, Canis Lupus and Canis simensis (Ethiopian).
Because it's the main Forms of which type is met through DNA. Now known of Canis Rufus but it is formally called Canis Lupus, Rufus (Red Wolf).
Precisely the main wolf is the Canis Lupus, Lupus, known as the Gray Wolf. And the other is hard to tell over the years knowing what is from but it is in central-east Africa, and very low in ranges.
Subspecies of wolves, are the secondary of the Canis Lupus, and it's wide ranges.
Canis Lupus, albus (Tundra Wolf) Northern Russia..
Canis Lupus, arabs (Arabian Wolf) Middle East, Iraq, etc.
Canis Lupus, arctos (Arctic Wolf) Northern Canada, Alaska and Greenland.
Canis Lupus, balleyi (Mexican Wolf) Mexico, Southern Texas.
Canis Lupus, dingo Australia, India, and Thailand.
Canis Lupus, familiaris (Domestic Dog) World Wide.
Canis Lupus, Lycaon (Timber Wolf) Ontario.
Canis Lupus, occidentalis (Mackenzie Valley wolf) Mainly Western Canada, and the Rainproducation of Yellowstone National Park in 1995, the last hunted and killed in 1916 then the rainproducation came into. It focused on the Ecosystem, because of elk populations were overwhelming everything within the Ecosystems.

And Pretty much sums it up, by not all but most known Subspecies. Smile

Nope, Lycoan is a timberwolf in scientific name. But foxes are Vulpes vulpes, mostly common name for red foxes. But it is related to the wolf and so called Jackals within the DNA hygiene.

No, they are not.. only being in the near endangered list so it's hard to believe, at most. But they are in South America, but i've seen this type of wolf to be endangered due to the surroundings.

Entirely it's related to the fox and the wolf, being least known as i can tell.
Dholes are the same as Maned Wolf in East- and South-Asia. Yet again Dholes are very much related, but least known.
Personally i have never heard of those but it's catching up by it's relations of the Canid Species.

Like wise, i've been hearing this a lot and Mexican wolves.
Canid Rufus is Critically Endangered because of over hunting, and so many people who are willing to help for the cause. Mexican Wolves which are Canis lupus baileyi. These are very endangered and close to extinction because of the people lations are merely at 100-200 wolves i think.

Canid Rufus floridanus, is in Florida, so called Florida Black wolf. But, hard to say because there's an unknown factor. Most in the states are wiped out but not all, wolves in Yellowstone National Park, the most known park in the states. Reintroduced the wolves into the park in 1995, the Wolves of the type is Mackenzie Valley wolf (Canis lupus occidentalis).
